Missionaries of Charity (Mother Teresa's order) Soup Kitchen
Due to the MC Sisters' recent move (last week) a health inspection has not been carried out on their kitchen. Until the inspection occurs the sisters are supplying their clients with takeaway meals, instead of the usual sit down meal.
Service begins at 10.30am (you are asked to please arrive by 9am to prepare for service)
The next two dates are
- Saturday 26 May (takeaway meal)
- Saturday 2 June (takeaway meal)
Throughout June and July the sisters will be away on retreat and will not open the Soup Kitchen again until August.
By volunteering to assist the MC Sisters and their soup kitchen clients you are making a huge difference to many lives.

Wednesday 2 May
5 p.m. for 5.30 p.m.
Irish Club Grand Ballroom
175 Elizabeth St Brisbane
We are privileged to have this opportunity to hear internationally-known speaker and writer
Professor Iain Benson
He will speak about situations where religious liberty appears to be at odds with public policy: for example the right of conscience for medical professionals and the public funding of schools with religious affiliations.
#2 ARCHBISHOP COLERIDGE’S INSTALLATION MASS
I) EXTERNAL SEATING OUTSIDE THE CATHEDRAL TO WATCH ON A BIG SCREEN
There will be some provision for a limited amount of external seating outside the Cathedral to participate in the liturgical reception. An external big screen telecast will be available in the cathedral precinct.
N.B. There will also be no parking in the Cathedral precinct or in surrounding streets on this day. Public transport works best.
II) LIVE WEBCAST
The Solemn Mass and Liturgical Reception of Archbishop Coleridge as the Archbishop of Brisbane will be webcast live on the Archdiocesan website from approximately 10.15am on Friday, May 11. Afterwards it will be also be available to watch “on demand” at anytime from the same web address. Please visit the web address: www.bne.catholic.net.au on the day and follow the prominent links. We remain hopeful that as many people as possible are able to share in the solemn Mass and liturgical reception to install Archbishop Coleridge as Archbishop of Brisbane.

Hope everyone who turned up on Saturday enjoyed the prolife procession/mass/new farm picnic. Just a reminder that this Monday is Faith On Tap and if you want to travel there as a group there's a couple of ways to go about it:
Option 1: There's a 6pm Mass at St Joseph's, Kangaroo Point (attendance includes the added bonus of a plenary indulgence as it's the church's patronal feast day
:-D). Meet Jean at the UQ Lakes bus stop to catch the 5:18pm bus (number 29).
Option 2: Meet Kachi outside Boost Juice beside the main refec at uni at 6pm and catch the bus to Kangaroo point.
Either way you can get a cheap dinner afterwards at the Pineapple Hotel where Faith On Tap is held.
See you all there! :-D
P.S. As Jean pointed out on her facebook post: the traditional colour for St Joseph's Day (This Monday) is red =D and tomorrow is Laetare Sunday, the liturgical colour is rose! ;p
God has created me to do him some definite service; he has committed some work to me which he has not committed to another. I have my mission — I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next. I have a part in a great work; I am a link in a chain, a bond of connection between persons.
— Bl John Henry Cardinal Newman

“Dear Lord, help me to spread thy fragrance everywhere I go.
Flood my soul with Thy spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine.
Shine through me, and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul.
Let them look up and see no longer me but only Thee O Lord!
Stay with me, and then I shall begin to shine as Thou shinest; so to shine as to be a light to others.
The light O Lord will be all from Thee; none of it will be mine;
It will be Thou, shining on others through me.
Let me thus praise Thee in the way Thou dost love best, by shining on those around me.
Let me preach Thee without preaching, not by words but by my example, by the catching force, the sympathetic influence of what I do, the evident fullness of the love my heart bears to Thee.”
—Bl John Henry Cardinal Newman
